Happy Holidays: I Don’t Care What Fox News Has To Say
Here we are, the middle of December. Once again, people will be wishing good tidings to all mankind. People are hustling and bustling to and fro from one store to another. Looking for the right gift for family and friends.
Trees are being cut or bought and ready for their annual adornment with lights and ornaments of past and present. Gifts carefully wrapped and placed under the tree, tempting those beyond their reasonable level of restraint. Yet, they dare not break the sacred convent that requires waiting until December 25th.
Plans are made for the family to descend once again at the predetermined host for this year’s Christmas festivities. Hopefully, for some, those family members will be the son, daughter, father, or husband who is on active duty in some far off land. They pray their loved ones can get the liberty to come home and spend the holiday with them.
Food will be plentiful, it’s almost an extended version of Thanksgiving. Hopefully, without Uncle Harry raving about the cantankerous wrangling going on in Washington. Yes, Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness. Especially for those little ones who suddenly started eating their peas and carrots, picking up their toys, and offering to do things around the house. Yes, they want to be on the nice list Santa is regularly checking.
Throughout the world, people at this time are being a little gentler and kinder. Even wishing each other Merry Christmas or heaven forbid Happy Holidays. I wonder if Merry Christmas mandated at Fox News. Or is their Christmas bonus docked a certain percentage for every utterance of Happy Holidays? I suppose Santa and his little elves know and have the appropriate amount of coal for the offenders.
Regardless of what people say, I marvel at how well-meaning, forgiving, and compassionate people get around this particular time.
Only to see that bit of humanity flee right after New Years’. It’s sad.
In any case, Happy Holidays. Don’t worry, I don’t work for Fox. Nor do I celebrate Christmas. So there will be no coal for me. But I will accept the kindness that comes with this time of year. And wish good tidings for all of you. And I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.
